Our organization was founded in 2010 and is based in the inner city of Pretoria. It has taken care of over 60 girls since inception. Our mission is to serve a community with solutions. Where there is poverty, we bring hope. Where there is abandonment, we bring care. Where there is abuse, we bring healing. With our Place of Safety cum Child and Youth Care Center we are building a better future for victims of abuse, by implementing a holistic care program that encompasses an individual development program, a therapeutic program, an individual educational program, a life skills program, a family reunification program and a Christian based spiritual development program.
Supported by the Department of Social Development in Gauteng, Urbanvest Foundation is a registered Non-Profit Organization as well as a Public Benefit Organization authorised to issue 18A tax exemption certificates. We are aligned to the government directives for BEE. In conjunction with the Department of Social Development, a Board of Directors oversee the financial and statutory accountability of the organization. We take hands with the South African Police Services, the children’s court, and all statutory authorised social services organizations in and around Gauteng to address the problem of child abuse in our region.
What was previously called an orphanage is now called a “Child and Your Care Center.” We nicknamed our CYCC “Peas in a Pod” because of the sets of siblings that are often welcomed.
Along with the Department of Social Development, various benefactors contribute in a multitude of ways to the day to day functioning of the home.
